Family Storytime: Tea!
This week’s storytime theme is “tea”! Here are some wonderful books we might read in storytime:
Tea for Ten by Lena Anderson
Tea with Grandpa by Barney Saltzberg
Tea with Oliver by Mika Song
Tea Rex by Molly Idle
Here are some songs and/or rhymes we might do in storytime:
Song: I’m a Little Teapot
I’m a little teapot, short and stout,
Here is my handle, here is my spout.
When I get all steamed out hear me shout,
Tip me over and pour me out!
Rhyme: Here’s a Cup (Jbrary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8EeAYePudU)
You’ll need at least two people for this rhyme. This is to help encourage interaction between caregiver and child or between two children!
One person makes a fist and the other places hands on top to guide them.
Here’s a cup and here’s a cup, (Lift each paired hands slightly)
And here’s a pot of tea. (Bring hands together)
Pour a cup, pour a cup, (Motion hands as if pouring tea)
And drink some tea with me. (Bring one pair of hands to you and the other to your partner)
Song: These Are My Glasses by Laurie Berkner
(Make some finger glasses) Hello! I see you through my glasses.
Can you put on a pair of glasses? Hmm, let’s put them down.
Oh! I’ve got a book. Put your hands together and you can make a book, too.
Then you can open it, oooop!
GASP oh my goodness there’s a pink snake in there! Shut that book! Whoop!
Let’s look inside again. Open it up, oooop!
OH MY GOODNESS IT’S A purple dinosaur! CLOSE THE BOOK! WHOOP!
These are my glasses, (finger glasses up against eyes)
This is my book, (put your hands together)
I put on my glasses, (put your glasses on)
And open up the book. (open up the book)
Now I read, read, read, (bring “book” from side to side)
And I look, look, look, (“look” from side to side)
I put down my glasses, (put down glasses)
And WHOOP! Close up the book! (whoop, close up the book!)
See you there!
