Family Storytime: Playing Together!

HCPL - Storytime

This week’s storytime theme is “Playing Together”! Here are some wonderful books we might read in storytime:

Hide and Seek by Polly Noakes

Hum and Swish by Matt Myers

I Can be Anything by Shinsuke Yoshitake

Zonia’s Rain Forest by Juana Martinez-Neal

Here are some songs and/or rhymes we might do in storytime:

Song: Five Little Monkeys
Five little monkeys jumping on the bed
One fell off and bumped her head
Mommy called the doctor and the doctor said
“No more monkeys jumping on the bed!”
(Continue counting down to zero)

Song: Twinkle Twinkle Traffic Light
Twinkle twinkle traffic light,
On the corner shining bright.
Red means, “Stop.” Green means, “Go.”
Yellow means, “Go very slow.”
Twinkle twinkle traffic light,
On the corner shining bright.

Song: I Like Tacos! (tune: Alouette)
I like tacos, tacos, tacos, tacos,
I like tacos, they’re the best for me.
Guacamole on my nose?
Guacamole on your nose!
On my nose? On your nose.
Ohhhh! (repeat with different body parts)

Song: Icky Sticky Bubble Gum
Spoken: First we gotta take a piece of bubble gum out from our pocket! Unwrap it, stick it in your mouth, and chew it. Nom nom. Now… we’ve gotta blow a big bubble, are you ready? You’ve gotta use your hands to show me the bubble. (Blow a big bubble) and POP! (clap your hands together) Oh no… looks like we’ve got some icky sticky bubble gum all over our hands!

Icky sticky, icky sticky bubble gum, bubble gum, bubble gum,
Icky sticky, icky sticky bubble gum,
Has my hands stuck to my head! Oh no!
So let’s pull, and pull, and pull them away!
(Clasp hands together) Oh no… (start the song again and have gum stick to different body parts)

See you there!
