Family Storytime: Pink!

HCPL - Storytime

This week’s storytime theme is “pink”! Here are some wonderful books we might read in storytime:

The Watermelon Seed by Greg Pizzoli

Me and You by Geneviève Côté

A Girl and Her Gator by Sean Bryan, illustrations by Tom Murphy

The Book Hog by Greg Pizzoli

Here are some songs and/or rhymes we might do in storytime:

Song: Pink (tune: Are You Sleeping?)
Have them repeat after you
P-I-N-K, P-I-N-K
That spells pink, that spells pink,
Bubble gum is pink, bubble gum is pink,
Pink, pink, pink, pink, pink, pink.

What are some other things that are pink? Let’s sing about that.
Flamingos, watermelon, worm, flowers, piggies, etc.

Flannel: Five Clean and Squeaky Pigs (tune: Five Green and Speckled Frogs)
Five pigs so squeaky clean, cleanest you’ve ever seen,
Wanted to go outside and play, Oink! Oink!
One jumped into the mud, landed with a big THUD,
Then there were four clean squeaky pigs.

Song: Icky Sticky Bubble Gum
Icky sticky, icky sticky bubble gum, bubble gum, bubble gum,
Icky sticky, icky sticky bubble gum,
Has my hands stuck to my head! Oh no!
So let’s pull, and pull, and pull them away!

(Clasp hands together) Oh no… (start the song again and have gum stick to different body parts)

Fingerplay: Clap Your Hands
Clap, clap, clap your hands
As slowly as you can.
Clap, clap, clap your hands
As quickly as you can..

Verses: shake… roll… rub… wiggle your fingers… pound your fists… etc!

See you there!
