Family Storytime: Friends!

HCPL - Storytime

The last day of Storytimes for the summer is July 28th. We use August to plan for the Fall and to take our vacations. Still visit us and we’ll see you again for Storytime on September 1st!

This week’s storytime theme is “Friends”! Here are some wonderful books we might read in storytime:

Let’s be Friends: Seamos Amigos by René Colato Laínez

Hippos Go Berserk by Sandra Boynton

Meesha Makes Friends by Tom Percival

My Friends Make Me Happy! by Jan Thomas

Here are some songs and/or rhymes we might do in storytime:

Song: Buenos Días (tune: Are You Sleeping?)
Sing the bolded part and have your kiddo echo it back to you
Buenos días, buenos días,
¿Cómo estás? ¿Cómo estás?
Muy bien, gracias
Muy bien, gracias
¿Y usted? ¿Y usted?

Repeat with English translations!
Good morning, good morning,
How are you, how are you?
Very well, thank you,
Very well, thank you,
How about you, how about you?

Song: Do You Want to Be My Friend? (tune: Do You Know the Muffin Man or Mary Had a Little Lamb)
Do you want to be my friend,
Be my friend, be my friend?
Do you want to be my friend,
And JUMP along with me?

Verses: clap, spin, nod, dance, pat, skip, wiggle, etc.

Song: Where are Three Friends? (variation of Where is Thumbkin?)
Where is thumbkin, where is thumbkin?
Here I am, Here I am!
How are you today, friend?
Very well, I thank you.
Run away, run away.

(repeat with pointer, pinky, then all three:)

Where are 3 friends, where are 3 friends?
Here we are, here we are!
How are you today, friends?
Very well, we thank you.
I love you, I love you. (ASL hand sign for “I love you!”)

See you there!
