Tween Summer Reading Events

Tween events are specifically for tweens ages 9-12. These events are ticketed and tickets are available at the Children’s Desk one hour before each event begins. Some events have limited spots available.

Teen Summer Reading

Teens ages 12-18 will choose your cryptid team this summer-Bigfoot, Nessie, or Mothman! Scoop a reading log and earn tickets for your chosen team by reading every day. The team with the most tickets at the end of the program wins! Redeem your reading log and pick up tickets at the Children’s Desk.

The winning team gets to decorate the Teen Space in the theme of their winning cryptid mascot. One grand prize winner will be chosen from the winning team and will receive a $100 Lark and Owl gift certificate and gift bag. Three runners-up, one from each team, will win $50 Lark and Owl gift certificates and gift bags.

Teen Summer Reading is open to teens ages 12-18, June 3 through July 26. The final day to turn in tickets is July 26.

Teen events are ticketed. Pick up tickets one hour before each event at the Children’s Desk. Some events have limited spots available.

Adult Summer Reading

Adults will have a jam packed summer filled with the tools needed to have their own adventures, starting with these events:

⛰️ June 7 | 7 p.m.: Join us at the Library to hear Underground Texas Grotto present “Deep in the Karst of Texas: Conserving your drinking water, natural heritage, and the rarest animals on earth.”

πŸ¦‡ July 12 | 7 p.m.: Native Plant Society of Texas will give a talk about bats as pollinators.

πŸ¦‡ July 13 | 8 p.m.: Bat Walk with the Native Plant Society. They will be hosting a bat walk on July 13 at the McNeil bridge in Round Rock. Meet outside 601 S. I-35 Frontage Road in Round Rock (formerly the NAPA Auto Parts store).

Starting June 1, adults ages 18+ can click here to save their own BOOKS card. Once you complete a line on your BOOKS card, you can visit the main circulation desk at the Library to claim a prize and get a ticket for a prize drawing.

The Library will also have a travel map to put dots onto to show where you’ve traveled and where you would like to go. It is located on the second floor in the seating area. There is a scavenger hunt for the second floor, as well as tons of recommended items to check out!

Adult summer reading concludes on July 31. Winners will be drawn and notified by August 9.
