Read It Forward 2017
It’s time for the ninth annual Read It Forward adventure to begin. Once again, Georgetown ISD middle schools partner with the Georgetown Public Library and the Sun City Kiwanis Club to offer this exciting community reading challenge. Read It Forward is open to students in grades 6-8.
Read one, two, three, or all four books! This year’s books are:
Frostborn by Lou Anders
How They Croaked: Failures, Flops, and Flaws of the Awfully Famous by Georgia Bragg
I Am Princess X by Cherie Priest
The Heartbreak Messenger by Alexander Vance
Copies of the books are available on a special shelf in the Benold, Forbes, and Tippit Middle School libraries. The first students to find the books start the reading chain. It’s simple: find the book, read the book, and then share the book. Finish one book and swap it with a friend, or return it to the shelf in your library, and grab the next title. Can you read all four?
Georgetown Public Library and GISD will be hosting Read It Forward celebrations at each school in May. Once you’ve read the book, talk to your school librarian about the Read It Forward Scavenger Hunt. Then, visit the Georgetown Public Library to complete the hunt. Bring your completed scavenger hunt back to your school librarian to receive your party invitation. So, read the book, pass it on, adventure at the public library, and then party. We’ll celebrate the end of Read It Forward with pizza, games, and prizes.
Each book comes with instructions telling you exactly what you need to do after you find a book. Once you’ve read the book, be sure to visit the Read It Forward online survey to track your participation.
Read the book already? Great! That counts. If you have already read one or more of the books, do still visit the website and make sure you are counted as having participated in the program.
A huge THANK YOU to the Sun City Kiwanis Club for purchasing all the books for this year. Thank you, thank you! Read It Forward would not have been possible without the generous support of the Sun City Kiwanis.
