Summer Reading Club 2017
The Summer Reading Club is a free self-paced program in which children choose their reading level and keep logs of either the books they read (or that are read to them) or the amount of time they spend reading (or are read to) each day. The Summer Reading Club is open to kids ages 0-12.
You may pick up reading logs for the Summer Reading Club at the Children’s Desk. The last day to turn in a reading log is Friday July 21. For every 3 squares finished on the reading log you get an entry into the prize drawing. The more you read, the more chances you’ll have to win! Reading materials include books, comics/graphic novels, magazines, audio books and ebooks.
It takes team work to Build a Better World so this summer we are breaking into teams and competing to see which team reads the most. Readers will be broken into one of four teams: red, purple, green, or blue. The reading challenge takes place between May 30 – July 21. Ms. Bethni and Ms. Jaime will dye their hair the color of the winning team. They will reveal their new hair color and the winning team at the children’s summer program finale.
See Kid’s Events on the Summer Program brochure below for the complete summer calendar. All events are free. Weekly routine will be as follows: Tuesday mornings at 10:30 will be the time for special performances (storytellers, plays, musicians, animals, and more). We will be issuing tickets for Tuesday events only, starting the day of the program at 9:30 AM. For everyone’s safety, only ticket holders will be allowed to attend the program. Tickets are first come, first served. Tickets are free.
Tickets are broken into A, B, C groups (check the back of your ticket) and will be called Southwest Airlines style- A tickets first, B tickets, then C tickets. This allows you and your children to stay downstairs to play and check out books instead of waiting in line. Just listen to when your letter is called and head upstairs to the program.
Every program is super packed so we can no longer accommodate large groups such as churches, camps, daycares, or schools.
