Exhibit: Works by Sung Cha Brooks

Exhibit March 5 – May 18, 2018

When Sung Cha Brooks was in school in Korea, art was her best subject. She was chosen to represent her school at a national art competition. That is when her love for art began. Unfortunately, her passion for art would have to wait for over 40 years.

Mrs. Brooks will exhibit her paintings in the library’s first-floor public computer area.

In 2001, after raising a family, Mrs. Brooks’ daughter bought her an art set with various mediums. This reawakened her love for painting. She began painting and learning from area artists including Bernell Kelley, Betty Wentworth, Katherine Bernard (watercolors), Thomas Cleveland (pencil drawing), Tina Szajko (portraits), Patsy Supak and Lee Meriwether (acrylics), and Ann Gerrard (Oriental brush).

In 2006 Mrs. Brooks joined the Brenham Downtown Art Gallery, and she has received numerous ribbons for watercolor paintings. She is active in the Sun City Visual Arts Club and has exhibited her work at the Williamson Museum, as well.
