Exhibit December 3-28, 2018 in the Bridge gallery
Reception Sunday, December 9, from 2-4 pm
This solo exhibit will include pieces from Susan Hoppenworth’s “Burnt” work, her “Trees With Words” series, her “Circularity” series, a whimsical ode to bright colors and circles, and another series she has recently been working on, “Strata,” related to the geological world.
Ms. Hoppenworth’s fiber art work travels in a different direction than traditionalism. She enjoys pushing the limits with her art and technique. Her most recent series begins with burning fibers to produce flame lines and residue marks that dictate the final piece. Another recent series pays homage to nature with trees being primary in each piece. She has incorporated words into each piece, giving voice to nature. She uses both natural fibers and synthetics, and utilizes both natural and man-made embellishments.
