Chilean folksinger Ricardo Parra will perform in the library at 2 p.m. on August 19 in the library’s popular Live Music at the Library series. He will perform South American folk and some English folk music as well.
Parra has performed at the Austin Public Library and other Austin locations, including the Peña Art Gallery, Alianza Latinoamericana, and Threadgills North, by invitation with singer-songwriter Tish Hinojosa. In San Antonio, he has performed at EVA Art Gallery and at the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center.
Parra developed his career mainly in Mexico, where he performed at the Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon, the National Polytechnic Institute, the Library of Mexico, Festival de Trova de Ixtenco 2017, and many other cultural forums. In Chile he has performed at Conception University and other locations.
He will perform songs of the most important musicians from the folk traditions of Chile (Violeta Parra, Victor Jara, etc.) and South America, as well as songs he has written and English folk music (with new arrangements he’s created).
The Georgetown Public Library is located at 402 W. Eighth Street in Georgetown. Free and open to the public, this performance is a gift of the Friends of the Georgetown Public Library. Come and go, or have a seat in the library and enjoy the concert.
