Stop by for National Voter Registration Day in the lobby from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. with VDRs on hand to help register voters in Williamson County.

At 6 p.m. Helen Cordes will give a talk about local suffragist and civil rights activist Jessie Daniel Ames. In 1916, Ames organized the Georgetown Equal Suffrage League and became its first president. In October 1919, Ames founded the Texas League of Women Voters and served as its first president until 1923. Helen Cordes is a lifelong journalist whose family has lived in Georgetown for 30 years. She has created a website, Hidden HerStories and MoreStories (HiddenHerstories.com) that explores how women such as Jessie Daniel Ames and other diverse community members have made Georgetown better.
