The Georgetown Public Library hosts “Live Music at the Library” at 2 pm the third Sunday of most months of the year; the concerts are free and open to the public, and no longer require registration. Seating is limited to 200 attendees.
Swing Shift cooks. Period. The Austin band is led by Johnny Serrano – guitarist, banjo player, swing dancer, and New Orleans native. And just as Crescent City chefs combine secret gumbo ingredients so wonderfully, Swing Shift superbly blends the tuneful makings of hot jazz. What started out as a traditional jazz band, has grown to include 30’s and 40’s swing music. Besides leader Johnny Serrano, the other members are: Sean Newton – cornet and vocals, Don Denzin – clarinet and saxes, Dave Stoddard – valve trombone, and Bill Troiano – sousaphone. Swing Shift has performed all over the Austin area for the past 12 years. Some of the band’s more popular annual performances are at the Georgetown Wine Swirl, at Dell Diamond for the Round Rock Express, and for the Austin Traditional Jazz Society concerts. The band can also be heard at various private parties, at senior centers, and at breweries around the area.
