Anca Thomas’ exhibit “Abstract Art in Multiple Techniques” opens September 2 in the first floor Café Gallery and continues through October 1. Thomas’ art is inspired by her tumultuous, eventful life. She has a master’s degree earned in Bucharest, Romania. She came to Texas 30 years ago. She is a self-taught artist whose work is diverse, unpredictable and dynamic. She works in fiber art, acrylic, gouache and mixed media, primarily abstract.

“Art,” she says, “in my definition is feelings applied to the canvas, and can tell a story using various images, replicas, and reflections in our own meaning.” Thomas is active in the local arts community. She currently serves on the board of the Williamson County Art Guild and is a member of the Austin Visual Art Association. She has recently shown her artwork in Round Rock, Austin, Salado, and Fredericksburg. She says, “I am so happy to say that my abstract designs are liked more and more by a wide variety of viewers.”

All art receptions at the Georgetown Public Library are open to the public. Attending a reception is a wonderful way to meet others with similar interests in the arts, see the exhibits, and enjoy refreshments and conversations with the artists.
