Drawing Faces class with Jennifer Polnaszek
Artist Jennifer Polnaszek will teach a free class called Drawing Faces on Tuesday, January 30, from 5-8 pm in the library. A second identical class will be offered the next night, Wednesday, January 31 from 5-8 pm.
Ms. Polnaszek has been fascinated with drawing faces since early childhood. She has taught two courses on Drawing Faces in the past year at ArtSpace in Round Rock.
The class is open to people age 17 or older of any skill level, but focuses on a basic approach to pencil portraiture.
Seats for this class are limited. For more information or to reserve a spot, call or email Dana Hendrix, Fine Arts Librarian, at 512-930-3624 or email@example.com.
The class will be held in conjunction with “The Extraordinary Ordinary Life,” a solo exhibit of watercolor and oil paintings by Jennifer Polnaszek. Her paintings depict people in everyday life and still lifes of everyday objects, including “Beau in Blue,” shown here. Polnaszek’s work is impressionistic and representational, with colorful depictions of people and objects in her life. The exhibit will run from January 8-February 2, 2018.
The public is also invited to attend an artist reception on Saturday, January 20, from 3-5 pm. This is a chance to see the exhibit, meet the artist, and enjoy refreshments on the library’s second floor.
Jennifer Polnaszek’s art life began when she was a child, but it took a back seat to other academic and professional interests for many years. She came to Texas from rural Wisconsin where she worked in the medical profession as both a physician assistant and a registered nurse.
She studied art at the University of New Mexico, and later continued studies at The Southwest School of Art and the Coppini Academy of Fine Arts. She works in a variety of media, including oils, watercolors, graphite and printmaking. Particularly drawn to the human form and to documenting the human experience through her work, she is influenced by both a love of biological science and anthropology.
In addition to participating in numerous exhibitions in the San Antonio-Austin area, she has received awards at the Coppini Academy of Fine Arts, The Southwest School of Art, and Round Rock Arts Imagine and Big Shows. A watercolor was selected to appear in the June 2014 Splash publication. She is a member of the 620 Group, Waterloo Watercolor Group, Coppini Institute of Fine Art, Gentileschi Aegis Gallery Association, Texas Watercolor Society, Center Art Group, Taylor Art Guild, and the Williamson County Art Guild.
