Awards Announced in Texas Society of Sculptors Summer Show

The Texas Society of Sculptors held an awards ceremony on Sunday, July 15 to announce awards in their Eleventh Annual Summer Show at the Georgetown Public Library.

Winners are:

First Place: “Bill Grogan’s Goat” by Ken Law
Second Place: “The Council” by John Mark Luke
Third Place: “Contemplation” by Faith Holmes
Honorable Mention, Metal: “Promises” by Pat (J.P.) Childress
Honorable Mention, Wood: “The Wave” by Laura Sturtz
Honorable Mention, Mixed Media: “George” by Marla Ripperda
Librarians’ Choice: “Hootie Blowfish” by Ken Law
People’s Choice: “Pegasus: Liftoff” by Tom Gingras

A list of all entered sculptures and winners is available at the library’s Reference or Circulation desks so visitors can be sure to see the entire exhibit, which is spread over the first and second floors of the library. The exhibit will continue through September 21. Most of the pieces in the exhibit are available for purchase.

Katie Robinson Edwards, curator at the Umlauf Sculpture Garden in Austin, served as juror for the awards.

A sculpture demonstration will take place in the lobby of the Library on Saturday, September 15 from 1 to 3 p.m. Several of this year’s featured sculptors will demonstrate heir techniques and processes in various media.
