Attendance at each event is limited, so you must sign up in advance if you want to attend. Activities will include electronic game days, instruction in creating your own computer game and animated movie, cake decorating, simple sewing, and jewelry making. See the events calendar for full details.

Special programs and events associated with the summer reading program are planned to promote reading as a pleasurable activity and to provide fun activities at the library. See the events calendar for full details. All events are free and open to everyone. You do not need to be a member of the library to attend any of the special performances. However, you may not check out books without a library card.

Calendars for the Craft 'n' Tale sessions and Tween events are below.

Texas Reading Program

This is a self-paced program in which the children set their own goals, choose their levels of reading and keep records of the books they have read (or that are read to them) or the amount of time they spend reading each day. Completion of a reading log also qualifies children for the end-of-summer drawings for the grand prizes as well as awards to recognize outstanding readers.

Register and keep track of your reading progress online. It's easy and fun. You can register and log books/time from your home computer or the computers at the library. Computers for Summer Reading Program use will be available at the library and staff will be available to help. Online features include the ability to submit and share reviews of books you have read and instant notification when a prize level is reached.  Family registration allows one family member to register and manage multiple family members on one account.
